Ruim
77 procent van de Nederlanders eet ten minste een dag in de week geen vlees bij
de warme maaltijd, blijkt uit onderzoek van de universiteit van Wageningen, drie
jaar geleden was dat nog 69 procent. Ruim 42 procent eet minstens drie keer per
week geen vlees.
Hoewel het aantal mensen die minder vlees eten, is toegenomen, is de hoeveelheid
vlees die in totaal wordt gegeten al vijftien jaar constant. Dat is gemiddeld
ongeveer 43 kilo per persoon.

De Chileense overheid heeft het goede werk van deze natuurgenezers ook erkend. Een bezoek aan en de behandeling door een van deze natuurgenezers vallen binnen het ziekenfondspakket. Oorspronkelijk was dat vooral bedoeld voor de eigen indiaanse stamgenoten. Maar inmiddels is bijna de helft van de patiënten niet van indiaanse afkomst.
